The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is the basis of our whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Holy Spirit, and the door that gives access to the other Sacraments. Through Baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God. Because every child is a precious gift of God, we deeply desire and require all parent(s)/guardian(s) to fully understand and be prepared as they embark on the sacred journey of faith that they are responsible to God and the Church in sharing with their child. Our preparation team welcomes, and will accompany and support, the parent(s)/guardian(s) in preparing for this Sacrament by sharing its riches and responsibilities. Parent(s)/guardian(s) who would like to have their child baptized, please call the Rectory.
If you are interested in participating as part of the Baptismal preparation team, please call the Rectory, 973-226-0221

Each year during Lent, our Parish collaborates with the other West Essex Parishes to present a four-week adult education and faith formation forum. These sessions feature presentations by local faith leaders and are a wonderful way to deepen our understanding of God’s love for us and of how faith lives in and influences our lives every day. In addition to attending, Parishioners are also warmly invited to assist in staffing and supporting Faith Quest, particularly in the years when our Parish serves as the host. Information and details will appear in our weekly Bulletin in the weeks leading up to and through Lent.
If you are interested in participating by attending or volunteering with the team, please call the Rectory (973-226-0221) or email the Coordinator directly:

OCIA is the process by which our Parish OCIA teams share their faith with individuals who wish to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation. Candidates and team-member Parishioners journey together through the process beginning in October each year and ending on or about Pentecost Sunday, offering enriching education and faith sharing to deepen our faith and understanding of God’s great love for each of us.
If you are interested in participating by serving as a team member (attending sessions and sharing your faith journey with candidates), please call the OCIA office at 973-226-0209, ext. 30 or email the Coordinators directly:

Our Parish is committed to a dynamic partnership with parent(s)/guardian(s) in the religious education of their children. Our Religious Education program strives to assist parent(s)/guardian(s) in fostering and developing their child’s/children’s faith formation with formal instruction for children in Kindergarten through Confirmation preparation. We follow a Family Catechesis Model for K - 8. Families periodically gather together in our gym five times throughout the year. Children gather six additional times in a classroom setting. Online assessments are completed during “at home” weeks.

Each year during Lent and Advent and throughout the year, our Parish invites all parishioners (men, women, couples, young adults, children, etc.) to meet in small groups of 6 to 10 and pray together, read scripture, share faith, and discuss what is happening in their lives and in the world around them. Through prayer, shared experiences, and explorations of faith, these groups create, in a smaller setting, a community that enhances the life of the entire parish and fosters a fervent love for our Lord Jesus. These groups typically meet for an hour and may meet weekly, bi-monthly or monthly – and some groups have found the practice so enriching and rewarding that they continue to meet throughout the year. Our Parish provides faith sharing material for Lent and Advent. Because St. Aloysius’ physical space can only accommodate a few groups, we need willing parishioners to open their hearts and homes for more groups to gather. Our Lord will richly bless you!
If you are interested in participating and/or opening up your home for Lent, Advent, and beyond, please email the Coordinator directly:
